3 One-Night Stand Safety Tips

by - 07:00

If you aren’t in a relationship right now, then why should you have to go without sex just because of the awful stigma behind one night stands? One night stands can be great fun, and even more so if you stay safe and look after yourself. It is just funny how a boy and girl can complete the same activity, yet the boy will get high-fived and brag, while the girl, more often than not, feels ashamed due to names they are most likely going to get called; slut, slag, whore etc.

Don’t let people judge your activity – you shouldn’t have to go without a quick bonk just because you haven’t found Mr. Right yet. So, get out there, have a few drinks, and find someone that you know you could hit it off with, for one night, and one night only.

Here are just a couple of tips that you should follow to ensure that you stay safe during, and after, your one-night stand:

1.      Use Protection
Of course, the most obvious tip would be to use protection. Often, this goes out of the window when it comes to heading home with someone after a night out, but it is important that protection is used as the consequences could be fatal, in a worst case scenario of course.

If your partner doesn’t feel comfortable wearing a condom, for excuses such as ‘it doesn’t feel the same’, then tell them that you don’t feel comfortable having sex with them, as their attitude seems quite immature. There are so many STIs out there that it is important to try and avoid coming in contact with any.

Of course, condoms don’t protect everything so make sure that you also..

2.      Get STI Checked
The worst thing that you can do would be to leave an STI settle for weeks and weeks as it can develop and get worse. Get checked as soon as possible so that you can receive the right treatment straight away. You may not get any symptoms and think you're fine, but a lot of STIs don't actually come with any symptoms.

Most diseases don’t appear right away, so you may have to wait two weeks until you visit your nearest clinic. Don’t be afraid to visit the clinic either – I understand that it could be a little daunting but sex is natural and everyone will be there for similar reasons.

3.      Tell Your Friends
You don’t always have to be drunk to have a one-night stand, although this often makes things easier. You can use websites such as JustOneNightStands.com to find one-night stands during the day, or even if you’re just having a sober Saturday.

Whether you’re drunk or sober, it would be a good idea to tell your friends exactly where you’re going. Sometimes, Find my Friends does a good job, and if you don’t have your friends on there yet, then make sure you add them as they will be able to track your whereabouts.

Your friends will worry about you if you leave the club without telling them, so ensure that you say ‘bye’ and give them a time that you will be home.
